Your song comparisons between 1/17/68 and 2/14/68 are right on. The problem with the recording is the LOUD buzzing/humming all through the board which for me makes this show unlistenable. I say "warm-up' quite lierally as the Dead started their "Quick & The Dead" tour only a couple days later, and after finishing up that tour set about opening their new Carousel Ballroom. They also fixed that loud loud hum in the P.A. by the next Carousel gig.

It's louder, but it's got a buzz...

well, I don't mind getting a buzz...

We can agree on the buzz my friend! Also the 3/17/68 DL is indeed the usual brain-scalding '68 Dead we have both grown to know and to love! The "Caution" alone....well I think you know what I mean. Its the "buzz" !
